Note: This club primarily uses ROLEPLAY and in character discussion. Please remain in character and keep any OOC chatter within tags/parenthesis ( ).
You find a place that calls out to you and plop yourself down noticing how comfortable it is and you look up; the ceiling has been enchanted, there are stars twinkling and you can see them move, sparkle, and even begin to find some of the constellations. Other students are walking in but there isn’t the usual chatter everyone seems to be having the same reaction as you. Conversations sounded distant. What is happening?
You hadn’t noticed Gaia had come out of the side office with some purple candles lighting them as she went. Is the flame on that candle dancing? Then you hear it the soothing sounds of nature; it is very subtle, but you can make out the sounds of waves and some classical music melody. “Welcome everyone to Divination Club.” Gaia’s voice is different. There is a calmness to her that make her words feel warm How is that possible? “Professor Trelawney has allowed me to begin this club in hopes of helping those of you struggling with your Inner Eye or want to work on your skills outside of class. As you may have noticed there have been some changes made to accommodate our needs for the club. My vision for the club was to create a safe, welcoming, and relaxed space for all of us." Gaia paused smiling “I am Gaia your club captain and as some of you may know, a Seer.” Gaia sat on the high chair by the table and continued “I come from a long line of seers; back to the time of the Druids, even muggles have known of my ancestors, but never realized it was real old magic. In my family almost every female has gotten the gift and some have developed more abilities than others. As we work together during the club I will tell you stories of my family, speak of personal experiences, and answers all your questions to the best of my ability.” Gaia moved her hand to grab a small wooden box from the table and began shuffling a deck of cards while she talked. “We will cover different tools for Divination, but keep in mind that we flow with the energy of learning and discovery.”
This is a side of Gaia you have never seen before even her clothes are different. She started to sound like professor Trelawney maybe that is a seer thing.
“We might find ourselves enjoying one way of Divination more than others and that is okay. Opening your Inner Eye will be a fun experience!” Gaia was happy to share this side of her life with her fellow students. “To name a few tools we will be using tea leaves, cards, and other scrying ways to look into the future. We will also be able to talk and even try Rune reading and help answer questions you might have about Palmistry. It seems the professor is really into that now.” Gaia said with a giggle as she thought of the current Divination lesson. “I am now open for some questions while you pass around the parchment and quill for sing-ups. Please write down your favorite tool for telling the future and what do you expect from the club.” Gaia set the deck down “If you haven’t noticed the incense smells different for everyone. It is a blend my family has been working on for years and with a little magic added the aroma changes. For me personally it is a combination of apples and the special scent of the forest behind my farm. Don’t be confused this is not the same as the love potion effects. This incense has an actual aroma and without the magic it would have smoke, which will come in handy if we do work on smoke readings, the recipe calls for specific ingredients like Lavender for relaxation, Vanilla for warmth, and Cedarwood for grounding. All grown in the family land and prepared by my Nan. If you are interested in knowing more about the incense let me know. I have plenty if any of you would like to take some." Smiling Gaia waited for any questions.
Magnus wrote his name Magnus Lee, Gryffindor. Failing Divination, any help would be good. He blushed admitting that he was failing the class but thankfully it was dark. Divination was one of his worst subjects and something he just was not understanding well at all.
ooc
i've been waiting for this club since clubs opened i'm screaming. i love divination sooooo much? i actually do own tarot cards, rune stones, and oracle cards. but i don't use them nearly enough.
Diva grinned as she walked in, excitement radiating off of her. Divination was her main interest, and she had been waiting to join Divination Club for ages. The room felt and looked magical. It smelled of warm cinnamon and a fresh fall day. Amazing.
As the parchment was passed to her, she wrote down her name. My favourite tool is tarot cards, but I also own rune stones and oracle cards. I'm always looking for something new. She smiled, settling down on a cluster of pillows, and passed the sheet along.
"Welcome Diva." Gaia said with a smile "fancy seeing you here Magnus." Gaia was grinning she knew her friend didn't particularly like this side of school work.
( )
"'Llo," the boy said in his standard greeting to Diva, "I'm Magnus Lee o' Gryffindor." He gave Gaia a half smile, "Can't get rid o' me that easily can ya?" He just hoped he wouldn't look like an utter idiot. He could tell the difference from a tea leaf and a tarot card but that was about all he managed--that and some specactualr naps complete with drool for maxium embrassement.
((OOC: Since there is only three of us. How would you like to RP each others fortunes and future? We can go over some techniques and then we do a Ron and Harry type thing so you guys can do it for one another. We can also have Gaia do some future reading for you! ;) )) ( )
(( SURE. i totally forgot about this... you'll have to ping me next time too. :))
( ) Gaia walked to the back office and got the teapot and two cups. "Here make yourselves some tea and let the leaves sink to the bottom. If you have your Divination books they will help you once we start looking into the meanings. Just take a deep breath and just carry on as normal. The tea will tell you what you need to know." Gaia walked back to set up a blackboard and get some more tea ready.
He pulled out his divination book with a wrinkle in his nose. The stuff made no sense to him at all, but he really hoped Gaia could help. He drank his tea slowly, despite his inclination to just guzzle it down so as to get to the learning faster. Magnus was a bit of a perfectionist when it came to his classwork.
Gaia chuckled from the office "Magnus, do you have any questions? Would you like some biscuits?" ()
"Yes and no thank you," he replied. "Don't know 'ow you can see anything in the leaves, just looks like a bunch of wet stuff ta me." He looked at the text with the pictures and recalled he hadn't seen anything like that in any of the tea he drank before. Looking at his too full cup he figured it would take a little while before he finished anyway.
Gaia was smiling when she walked out of the office. "Here" Gaia had brought an empty cup. "I just drank this. What do you see?"
he turned the cup several times and resisted the urge to say sodden tea leaves. He studied the book's images and the leaves and then back to the images but he did not see anything at all. Frowning he picked an item at random. "A fish..." he knew Gaia would see through his fib so he sighed and said, "nothing... I just don't see anyfing at all."
Gaia smiled. "Just take a deep breath and look at the leaves. Don't force an image just look. Think of it as if you were trying to draw something beautiful by connecting the dots. Try again, this time don't look at the book just trust what you see."
()
"well, this 'ere looks like a crescent moon.... this one 'ere looks like a spiral... and there's some dashes 'ere." He looked at her hopefully.
"Okay so what do you think the mean? Begin with the first one you saw and read them like a book." ()
"Well, the moon means being receptive an' open to change." He had always thought it was ironic being open to change was very literal for him. "The spiral means creativity and the dashes mean travel or busy... so if you put 'em together then you'll be receptive to a change and maybe go about it in a creative way and it will keep you busy?"
Gaia laughed "That is actually pretty good, but you need now to apply it to me. Your key words are open to change, creativity, and busy/travel. I will drink again and see if the next images help you complete the message." Gaia poured some tea into her cup and drank it. "Here. The same process. What do you see?" ()
